Location & How to Get There
Your mountain wedding in Austria with Amulet is likely to be in the areas in and around Tyrol, Salzburg and Obertraun. These can be reached from Salzburg, Innsbruck or Munich airports, with UK airlines such as British Airways and Ryanair, and US airlines including Lufthansa making regular flights.
The popular area of Tyrol is an outdoor-enthusiast’s paradise in summer or winter, boasting tranquility in the form of rugged peaks and vast glaciers, as well as vibrant meadows and truly classical alpine charm. Packed with bustling ski resorts, including Kitzbühel with its accolade of being the only non-glacial ski resort open from October through to May, Tyrol is known for its traditional and fashionable winter vibe.
Salzburg, or the City of Mozart as it is known, is a magnificent baroque city with something for everyone. Whilst the city itself is probably worthy of an entire blog, its surrounding area is teeming with spellbinding vistas and a divine alpine atmosphere. Crystal clear lakes, fairytale castles (you’ll hear more about this later!) and outdoor activities abound, making this region a truly special choice for your Austrian destination wedding.
The Obertraun region is an ideal exploration base for the Dachstein mountain range and the town of Halstatt. A UNESCO world heritage site, this area is ideal for those seeking culture, history and adventure silhouetted against a breathtaking natural paradise.

Tyrol Area
The Tennerhof Spa Hotel in the vibrant ski resort of Kitzbühel describes itself as ‘the most unique and romantic 5-star hotel’ in the area. Panoramic views and quiet gardens are accessible from its 39 rooms and suites, each uniquely furnished with family heirlooms. Alternatively, stay in one of three new luxury chalets. The hotel boasts three restaurants featuring gourmet excellence, and an award-winning spa with indoor and outdoor pools. This location is perfect for exploring the Tyrolean atmosphere and hospitality.
The Maierl Alm and Chalets in Kitzbühel are ideally situated for your adventure wedding in the Austrian Alps. 5 exclusive chalets have space for 8-10 people each, featuring double rooms with private bathrooms, living and dining spaces, private wellness area and uninterrupted mountain views. Alternatively the Maierl Alm has 15 rooms available, with access to a balcony or roof terrace and the breathtaking views you come to expect whilst staying in this region. Because of its location in the heart of the mountains, this accommodation offers a ski-in, ski-out feature – the snowy icing on the wedding cake!
At Bichlalm, 1600m above sea level you have panoramic mountain views the likes of which are hard to beat. A classically alpine location, this accommodation features a beautiful terrace with enchanting views of the Kitzbühel mountains which is perfect for your Austrian outdoor wedding ceremony. Ski facilities are an attractive aspect of this venue too, along with exceptional culinary adventures in the restaurants.
The Interalpen is a large, luxury 5-star resort in the Tyrol area, famed for its culture and hospitality. Its enviable position at 1300m above sea level means that views from this resort are indisputably glorious. This luxurious hotel features penthouse suites, with special panoramic views which seem to seep into the elegant inside spaces. Suites in the spa-hotel and lodge-rooms also offer the feeling that you have your own personal retreat, high in the Austrian mountains. With a variety of restaurant options, this location speaks to my couples with culinary interests – what better time to dine like royalty than on your wedding day!? As with any good alpine resort, the spa facilities are second-to-none; I can’t imagine a much better wedding treat than a spa treatment overlooking a snow-dusted panorama!
Nestled in a remote part of the Tyrol region, the Gerlos area has a surprising blend of tranquil mountain atmosphere and a great nightlife. The Rössl Alm, 1500m above sea level, blends quality, experience and tradition according to its website – and I couldn’t fault a single one of those features. For your Austrian Alps wedding this venue has a large terrace with prime views of the surrounding mountains, perfect in summer or winter. During the winter, Rössl Alm has its own ski school and this comes along with the famous (or perhaps infamous!) après-ski celebrations in Gerlos. This one is perfect for my couples wanting to let their hair down and party after the wedding!
Salzburg Area
Schloss Fuschl, Fuschlsee-Salzburg
Overlooking the vast and diamond-sparkling waters of Lake Fuschl stands Schloss Fuschl, a luxury resort and spa location straight out of that fairytale I mentioned earlier. A truly enchanting setting close to the city of Salzburg, and yet still removed enough to feel that you are nestled in the heart of charming Austria. The word ‘Schloss’ translates to ‘castle’, and you really feel as though you are in a storybook staying here. With a selection of rooms featuring lake or courtyard views and the option to stay in the Castle Tower, your Austrian Alps wedding couldn’t feel more immersive. On site an exquisite restaurant boasts Austrian-French fusion food, and the Schloss Fuschl Fishery allows you to partake in the catch of the day. Obertraun Area
The Obertraun Area is a great base for exploring the Dachstein mountains, and the Krippenstein Lodge sits high above the valleys and towns at over 2000m above sea level. Panorama suites sleep 4 people and at once feel cosy and limitless, allowing the icing-sugar mountains and tree-peppered landscape right into the room with you. A true touch of luxury, these rooms have their very own pine sauna in the bathroom and exclusive room service – you name it, the lodge will provide it! Winter sports and hikes right from the lodge are one of this venue’s prime features, as well as an excellent restaurant for your wedding dinner.
