Read on for some top tips…

Let’s fly, let’s fly away!
Maybe you have somewhere in mind for your Destination Wedding, perhaps from your childhood, or a shared dream location you’d like to explore together, but it’ll hold something special in your heart. Your guests will then be keen to share your magical moments if they know how much it means to you to have them there and for them to be part of your love story. You need to choose a place that means something to you.
Perfect Timings
When picking your destination you might want to double check the weather in the season you wish to say “I do”. Better weather often correlates with tourist season in top destinations so there are typically more holiday-makers. This normally equates to fully-booked hotels and higher rates for bookings, so you might have to reserve venues and accommodation as speedily as you can for your Destination Wedding. Even if you’re looking at a wedding in cooler climates, you still need to think about timings because of limited daylight hours in Winter…

Be our guest
For a Destination Wedding, you need to be ahead of the game on the invitation front. Think about your guest list carefully – what size will your wedding be? Who do you want to celebrate your marriage with – are you going to limit guests to very close family and friends, or are you visualising a celebration on a larger scale? Get a “save the date” sent out early so guests can start to plan their trips. When you get the invitations done, include all the necessary information for your wedding – keeping them in the loop – so that attending your Destination Wedding is as effortless as it can possibly be.

Let me entertain you!
When planning your destination wedding you need to think about it as a holistic experience for not only you and your partner, but for your wedding guests. It’s going to be a once in a lifetime trip and you want to make it extra special. What do you want them to see and do? The Amulet team can put together an amazing programme of activities to keep your guests intrigued and entertained – pony trekking or quad-biking up glaciers; kayaking across crystal lakes or visiting local distilleries! Whatever you wish for, we can give your Destination Wedding the x-factor.

Nuptial Requirements…
When you start planning your Destination Wedding, you’ll need to think about the legal side of things. Tying the knot in a different country can be complicated because many countries have a “residency requirement” which means you must reside in the country for a certain length of time before your ceremony. This varies from country to country, for example: only 3 days in Denmark but Belgium requires 3 months! Some countries have no residency requirements at all for a Destination Wedding. If you hire a Wedding Planner, they will take care of all legalities, and make sure you’re informed of what you need to do for your wedding to be officially recognised.

All Dressed up
Choose your dress and other wedding party members’ attire to fit with the destination you’ve chosen. We don’t mean traditional dress, merely that you think about the temperature and appropriateness of your clothing. For example, you don’t want to spend the day “glowing” in a heavy satin gown in 40 degree heat on a beach, but neither do you want to be wearing stilettos and a slinky lace number in minus temperatures when you exchange vows halfway up a glacier. Your bridesmaids and groomsmen will be incredibly grateful for consideration given to them too.

Warm Welcome
It’s a really gorgeous touch for your guests if, when they arrive at your Destination Wedding, they’ve got a little welcome bag waiting for them. Pop in a few things they might find useful – a map, a pashmina, a local delicacy as a snack, tea bags or a bottle of water, and hand-warmers/sun screen (depending on the weather!). To put all the goodies in, you could get personalised bags or have them designed to fit your theme. We love this luxurious gift tote, found here, which contains a myriad of delights!
