Ever wondered what a Wedding Planners own Iceland Elopement would be like? Read on to see my own Elopement in Iceland!
Welcome to November everyone! What an incredible year it has been for Amulet Weddings & Events. We’ve worked on some fantastic Weddings with amazing couples and arranged some beautiful Bridal photoshoots too. Our lifestyle shoot with Hannah Duffy was incredible fun to work on & we’ve hired a new team member to help with our growth. Our re-branding and refreshed website is now live & if that’s not enough, we’ve recently been shortlisted in two credible Wedding industry awards, the TWIA & 4CWA. With the help of a fabulous Wedding community and through investing in some business coaching to ensure I’m on the right track, I’m well & truly excited for 2018.
I can only apologise for not sharing everything more frequently with you but it has just been manic! Over the coming months I’ll be sharing not only our lifestyle shoot, but also our fabulous Summer Weddings so you can see how busy we’ve really been!
As many of you know, I’ve also had a lot going on personally with James and I expecting a little baby sibling for Aurora this December. Whilst we eagerly await our bundle of joy I wanted to share our own Wedding Day with you, as we have just celebrated 5 years of marriage!

Looking back on these photos has been so much fun, I have laughed out loud at some of the incredibly cheesy shots but more than anything I’ve had that warm fuzzy feeling inside and a huge grin on my face as I remember the whole day and how magical it felt to elope with my favourite person in the world!

We didn’t have a huge budget, and focused on enjoying our week in Iceland over splashing out on the little details – it was perfect.
We stayed at the Hotel Budir and arrived the day before our Wedding Day to stay in their Honeymoon Suite. Having dropped off our paperwork and got everything signed off earlier that day at the local registrar office, we then met with the priest in the bar. He requested a coffee with lots of whisky, which we found hilarious!

The next day we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and explored the area a little in the car, taking in the dramatic scenery in the refreshing but bitterly cold wind! We then returned to the hotel and got changed for our Wedding, enjoying a complimentary bottle of champagne to calm the nerves. James got ready then waited downstairs as I got in my dress and did my make-up with the photographer.

When it was time to get married James walked up to the gorgeous little chapel and set the sound system up and waited with one of the photographers and the priest for my arrival. It was a short 50m walk up from the Hotel, but as I left the hotel doors the snow began to fall on the lava fields surrounding the Hotel (something James had asked for that very morning!)

Our ceremony was short and sweet and we then took time to have some photos outside the church, overlooking the lava fields and down on the beach.

It was quite cold and wet by this point so we came inside for a glass of fizz and for some more photos in the lounge overlooking the sea.

After the photographer left we changed into comfy clothes and drank hot chocolate whilst watching the seals swim in and out of the bay. We finished the evening with a meal in the Hotel restaurant followed by an evening watching the Northern Lights from our suite window.

I have loads of photos to share from the rest of week, including the Blue Lagoon, Geysirs and Gulfoss Waterfall but I’ll save that for another post.
