We’re delighted to showcase why we feel Weddings at Hotel Ranga, Iceland are truly exceptional.
At the end of November we were invited, as Wedding Planners, to Hotel Rangá’s “In Love With Iceland” Wedding event extraordinaire. And wow, we were absolutely blown away! This is not your average four star hotel. It is a luxurious Icelandic getaway, with spectacular facilities and incredible dining. Located in the south of Iceland, and surrounded by a myriad of exciting places to go and visit and explore – Weddings at Hotel Ranga really are perfect!

As you enter the hotel you’re greeted by a giant polar bear (for us, he was wearing festive get-up!) and then you can head on round to enjoy delicious welcome drinks at the bar, seated on outrageously funny hand-crafted stools shaped like women’s legs that make you do a double take when your partner is sat on one!

This countryside hotel is ideally placed for you and your guests to explore all the wonders and awe-inspiring beauty that the south coast has to offer. There are glaciers, waterfalls and geysers all within short driving distances! Reykjavík is only about 80 minutes away (96 km) and it only takes around 2 hours to get there from Keflavík airport.

Hotel Rangá offers 51 bedrooms, split into 24 standard rooms, 20 deluxe rooms, 4 junior suites and 3 master suites. So, if you’re planning on inviting guests, there is plenty of space for a large party! The accommodation is luxurious and comfortable, warm and spacious, with every aspect of your stay thought through. They even left us a little bottle of bubbles and strawberries dipped in chocolate to enjoy while we unpacked!

The suites at Hotel Rangá are quirky and inspired by Frederik’s (the owner’s) travels. Each of the suites is themed by continent and they offer absolute luxury for guests; relax in the comfortable lounge areas, experience the romantic ambience they offer. The junior suites include Asia, Australia, North America and South America. The master suites include Africa, Antarctica and a large Royal Suite with a view over the Rangá River and Mountain Hekla.

The staff at Hotel Rangá are superb. They go above and beyond for all their guests, doing everything in their power to make your day the perfect wedding you’ve been dreaming of. The wedding team are excellent – all experts in the field and full of useful information and offer you a wealth of knowledge to ensure you’ve got everything covered! They even have a dedicated baker for your wedding cake. As a Wedding Planner I know I can trust the amazing Rangá team to help me make your dreams a reality!

The wedding ceremony itself can take place in the beautiful red-roofed church, Oddi, which is a traditional Icelandic country church. Or you could opt for an outdoor ceremony as there is a beautiful spot on the riverbank of the River Rangá, as pictured at sunset below! Find out more about where to have your ceremony here.

You can then head back to the hotel and have a splendid wedding reception, with only the best ingredients served in the banquet for your guests. The food cooked by the catering team at Hotel Rangá was nothing short of exquisite during our stay. Modern, fresh and clean dishes on some nights, contrasted by a traditional Norse meal which featured lamb shanks and root veg, and only a bone spoon as a utensil, followed by fermented shark and then Skyr. Utterly brilliant and totally unique!

We were treated to a Wedding Breakfast on our last night, which was just out of this world. From locally sourced fish to carpaccio of reindeer, every last detail was delicious and perfectly served, with the appropriate accompanying tipple. It was an amazing culinary experience that we’d recommend highly to everyone – brides and grooms in particular!

With no neighbours in sight, your wedding party can carry on partying on late into the night, and if the Northern Lights make an appearance to join the dancing, you can don a snowsuit (hanging in reception!) and head out into the starry night and steal a kiss under the dancing winter sky! Hotel Rangá is one of the best places in Iceland to experience the Northern Lights – we saw them each night we were there, and the staff ring you if you’ve requested a wake-up call, so you won’t miss them!

We never recommend anywhere that would not make the most amazing wedding venue, because we want our clients to experience Iceland as we have. From geothermal hot tubs to stargazing with the experts, then activities galore at your disposal, you cannot fail to have the best experience at Hotel Rangá. We had a phenomenal stay and would love to visit again soon! We’d be delighted to help you plan your Wedding at Hotel Ranga, Iceland.
